What is Yoga?
Yoga is a moving meditation aligning the body with the mind and breath through the means of various breathing techniques, postures, and meditation. Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit word "yuj" which means "to unite or integrate." Patanjali described the eight limbs of yoga in The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. These eight steps act as guidelines on how to live a meaningful and purposeful life. They serve as a prescription for moral and ethical conduct and self-discipline; they direct attention toward one's health, and they help us to acknowledge the spiritual aspects of our nature.
As a lifelong yoga practitioner, student and teacher I am committed to offering free and donation-based yoga classes and workshops in the Hatha flow, Kundalini, and Yin lineages. My workshops have focused on a variety of topics including grief, trauma, cancer, sobriety, and healthy relationships.
